Once a user has entered the key onto a computer, is this being remembered correctly? Or do you have to keep on entering the key onto the same computer? The keys should be remembered once entered, so if not then we have a problem. So long as you close VC6 before stopping work on a computer and changing machines there should be no problems at all. The only time you should have any problems is if a user is working with the IDE and VA on more than one computer at a time. If you have 8 users, then you only need an 8 user license key. User B replaces A and also work on computer C, on a different session, and he's prompted to enter the key again.įollowing the automated installation such as no user is prompted to enter the key, does each new user on the same computer "consume" a user slot in a multi-user key ? If the answer is yes, then we have to buy more keys even if some slots will never be used again. The problem now is : we have user A working on computer C, and A leaves.

We didn't follow the automated installation process, we used an admin session to install VA, then logged back to our usual sessions to enter the key.

And the VA revision used is 1929 for most of us, everything on WinXP Pro SP3. If the link does not help, can you please let me know your IDE, version of VA, OS, and what problems you are seeing? If you are seeing problems with VS2010 and above then this is probably because VA is installed on a per-user basis in these newer IDE's, so this might be having an effect on things.

Once you have entered the key into one IDE you should not be prompted by any of the other IDE's on your system. So long as the version of VA is supported by your license key, the same key should work in all of the IDE's without any problems. So VA 1626 is never going to work in VS2010, regardless of your license key.

The first version of VA that supported VS2010 was build 1819. The same key for 1626V works fine with VS 2008, leading me to believe something might be off for VS 2010.
